San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina: What you should know!

When we booked our rooms, I am pretty sure that because of my over eagerness and quick-typing skills we were able to secure a wonderful 2 Queen bed hotel room at the San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina.  Awesome!  The reason we are excited for this is because the hotel is adjacent to the convention center.  It is the first and foremost hotel of over a dozen used for SDCC guests and patrons alike.  Or at least that’s what I hear.

Out of curiosity, I called the hotel today to see if we could rent a fridge, or if that was even possible.  The nice fellow on the phone told me that every room comes equipped with a refrigerator.  Wow, there is definitely some money saved on food there!  As well as a guarantee of cold alcoholic beverages 24/7.  A convention isn’t a convention without a drink or two… or three… or a whole weekend of shots and saké bombs.

UPDATE 6/24/11: The hotel has rollaway beds upon request for no extra charge, too!

Anywho, for those who are curious and/or staying at this hotel, here is a quick cheat sheet of other facts that will be useful:

Protip: If you are really strapped for cash, you can make hot water via coffee pot.  Why is this mention-worthy?  It is good for ramen, cup-o-noodles, instant soups, teas, etc.  For myself, I actually own a small hot plate (not this one but it looks similar) for when I go to conventions and on cheaper vacations.  Bring a small pot and/or frying pan and the possibilities are endless.  I will probably be bringing this just in case I want something hot!  Pair this with a fridge and it’s perfect.  Think about it, you can make eggs and bacon, salmon, grilled chicken… Oh, did I mention I am a health nut right now?  That’s for another post, though.
